Songs From the South Series - Message from Jon Pousette-Dart

Who are J. Fred Knobloch, and Jelly Roll Johnson and why should they matter to you?

The men who made hits for Ray Charles, Delbert McClinton, Faith Hill, Etta James for a start. How about soulful nuances from Missisippi that will grab you and won’t let go. How about aside of the south that never quite manages to get north of the Mason Dixon line. I fell in love with this stuff as a kid and it has never let me go.

Hence, “Songs from the South” a series at the upstairs Triad monthly, featuring the best writers, singers and players I’ve had the pleasure to collaborate with, and a set with my favorite players in NYC including Paul Socolow, Eric Parker and Jim Chapdelaine. An evening of pure fun in a small intimate room that sounds great, and I don’t have to jump on a plane to Nashville to make it happen. This is a monthly series that I am more than pleased to finally have in motion. Fred and Jelly will be featured with PDB following and who knows where it will end. This is a small room and will sell out quickly. Don’t miss this.
