February 25, 2007 -- THE Jewish Theater of New York, which incurred the wrath of Howard Stern last year after daughter Emily appeared nude in one of its plays, is in hot water again. The Polish Embassy is up in arms over its upcoming "Last Jew in Europe," Tuvia Tenenbom's tragicomedy about "closet Jews living in a present-day Poland where anti-Semitism is rampant and calls to send Jews to gas chambers go unchallenged." The embassy says the play could turn American Jews against the Poles and claims that some of the anti-Semitic graffiti photographed in Lodz to publicize the production might have been created by theater staffers. Tenenbom, whose play opens March 4, calls the charges "wholly insulting and quite unproductive . . . the most horrific of anti-Semitic slurs can be seen today in almost every street in Lodz." He adds that when one major Lodz festival presents Jewish theater, it "carefully chooses Jewish shows that depict Jews as a nebbish bunch of idiots."

The Moogy Klingman Band
Moogy was a founding member of Todd Rundgren's "Utopia". Moogy will be performing swongs from his Capitol and EMI solo albums - songs that went on to be recorded by people like Johny Winter, Eric Clapton, Barry Manilow, Bette Midler, Carly Simon and others.
Moogy's band will also be playing other songs he wrote like "Dust in the Wind" which Todd Rundgren recorded on his "Something, Anything" album and Axel Rose and Guns & Roses does live in concert (on their very occasional gigs).
* He'll also be doing a song he co-wrote with Buzzy Linhart called, "You Gotta Have Friends", which is Bette Midler's theme song.
Moogy has played, recorded and/or had his songs covered by many rock legends, including Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Luther Van Dross, Bob Dylan, Bo Diddley, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Allan Woody and Warren Haynes from the Allman Bros & Gov't Mule. Moogy has worked with great female rockers like Bette
Midler, Carly Simon, Phoebe Snow, Cindy Lauper, Shawn Colvin, Irene Cara, and Thelma Houston.
Moogy just finished a summer tour with Buzzy Linhart and Moogy's band.
Jim Satten on guitar is an blues/R & B guitar legend. He was Bo Diddley lead guitarist and band leader for 14 years and lead the Ron Wood band (of the Rolling Stones) on a world tour.
He and Moogy also played together in the "Moogy/Woody Band" with Allmans Brothers alumni Allan Woody, and Warren Haynes. Jim has played guitar for the original Temptations, Ronnie Spector, and Sam and Dave, among many others. Jim just finished the Buzzy Linhart/Moogy Klingman mini -tour with Phoebe Snow.
Even Steven Levee has been playing with Moogy for many years in bands like "Moogy and the Mojo's" and "Freak Parade" Even has worked with many rocks acts including Brad Factor and others and also produces acts at his studio such as Gun Hill. Even just finished the Buzzy Linhart/Moogy Klingman mini -tour with Phoebe Snow.
The drummer Denny McDermott, has been gigging and recording with Donald Fagan, Phoebe Snow, Buzzy Linhart and Marc Cohen and is considered one of NYC's top rocking funk drummers.
Aisha Hinton is new to the band and the music scene in NYC. She's been a hit with the band with everyone who's seen her.

Ian Lloyd has been rehearsing with Moogy with a new version of his old band "Stories" IanLloyd and Stories had three top twenty hit singlesincluding a #1 hit with the classic song, "Brother Louie". Ian has recorded many albums with Stories and as a solo artist.

In the audience was a virtual who�s who of NY film producers, including

The Triad’s New Broadway Series of Artists began with singer/actress, Adriane Lenox (2005 Tony Winner for “Doubt”) for two packed performances on Sunday, June 18th. Lenox and Triad General Manager, Lee Summers, had appeared together in the original Dreamgirls on Broadway; hence, the house was filled with fellow cast mates, such as Tony Nominee’s Brenda Braxton (Smokey Joe’s Café) and Obba Babtunde (Dreamgirls), both of whom are presently starring on Broadway in Chicago. Another Dreamgirls original present was TV icon, Phylicia Rashad, Tony Winner for A Raisin in the Sun -- along with Terri Burrell, Kecia Lewis-Evans and Jamie Patterson. Also in the house were Tony Winners for The Life, Lillias White and Chuck Cooper. Ann Duqesney, who won a composing Tony for Bring In Da Noise, Bring In Da Funk, reunited with co-composer, Lenox’ Musical Director and husband, Zane Mark. Also present were Michael McElroy (Tony nominee for Big River - who sang a James Ingram/Patty Austin duet with Lenox, causing her to swoon to the floor as he hit classic Ingram vocal licks) along with Felicia P. Fields (Tony nominee for “Miss Celie” in The Color Purple) and Brandon Dixon (Tony nominee for “Harpo” in The Color Purple). Also cheering Ms. Lenox on was Emmy Winner, S. Epatha Merkerson (Lackawanna Blues, Law and Order), Broadway notables, Billy Porter, Lou Myers, Kingsly Leggs, Virginia Woodruff, Robert Fowler, Stacey Sargent, Peter J. Fernandez, Doug Eskew, Adrian Bailey, Marva Hicks, Cleve Douglass, David White, Nora Coles, Harriet Foy, Glen Turner and David Robinson. The legendary director/choreographer, George Faison (The Wiz), choreographer, Ken Roberson (Avenue Q and All Shook Up), Hoagy Carmichael, Jr, Ron Eldard (Sleepers), Gina Malone (Step Mom) Pulitzer Prize Winner, Tony Kushner (Angels In America), Sandra Reeves Phillips (Lean On Me) and actress, Novella Nelson (Antwone Fisher) were also at the event. Last Saturday night Kim Fields of "Facts of Life" and "Living Single" fame celebrated her boyfriend's(Christopher Morgan) birthday at the Triad. It was star studded event with a guest list which included Tony Nominee for "Smokey Joe's Cafe," Brenda Braxton, currently star of Broadway's "Chicago" and Marva Hicks of "Caroline Or Change." Hicks brought down the house singing to the happy couple, "At Last." Fields' next project is a one-woman show, slated for the Triad, written by Lee Summers, creator of Off- Broadway's "From My Hometown" (www.frommyhometown.net).

New Revue Showcases Songs of Charles Bloom, May 15

The songs of composer Charles Bloom (Insomnia, Heaven Knows) will be presented in a brand new revue, I Prefer To Dream, which will be performed at The Triad Theatre (158 West 72nd Street) on Monday, May 15 at 7 PM.

Conceived and directed by Andrew Glant-Linden, I Prefer To Dream features performers James Donegan, Leo Ash Evens, Kelli Maguire and Julie Reyburn.

I Prefer To Dream also features musical director Ray Fellman on piano, Christopher Downes on bass and Steve Singer on drums.

Bloom has, to date, written the book, music and lyrics to Pablo (about the young life of Picasso), Insomnia and Heaven Knows. Pablo was awarded a concert reading under the auspices The West Coast Musical Theatre Alliance at the Los Angeles Theatre Center (Allison Bergman, Director). Insomnia was presented as part of The Midtown Theatre Festival in 2004 (Allison Bergman, Director) and was selected to The Cardiff International Festival of Musical Theatre in England in the spring of 2005. Heaven Knows (starring Julie Reyburn and directed by Andrew Glant-Linden) was given a staged reading at The York Theatre Company.

Bloom’s cabaret/revue works have been heard in clubs and concert halls on both coasts and across the pond. Among the long list of talented artists to perform songs from his extensive and stylistically diverse catalogue are Michael Feinstein, B.D. Wong, Cheyenne Jackson, David Burnham, Vicki Lewis,Richard Todd Adams, Jon Philip Alman,Lindy Robbins, Sharon McKnight and Bruce Vilanch. On May 18th-19th, Heaven Knows will be receiving a staged reading by The Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre in North Carolina; and on May 22nd, Pablo will be one of 3 three finalists selected to The Next Big Musical Competition as presented by AnyMinuteNow Productions (www.anyminutenow.org).

World-Renowned Guitarist Pete Huttlinger Performs this Wed. as part of Songs From The South also with Jon Pousette-Dart Band

Since his days of subway busking, Pete Huttlinger has developed into a world-renowned guitarist. Even as a must-have sideman, he occupied some pretty choice real estate, including the Hollywood Bowl and London’s Royal Albert Hall with John Denver, Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and stadiums around the world with numerous other pop and country superstars.

He has been a featured artist with the San Diego and Houston symphonies and is a favorite guest artist of the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. In 2000 Huttlinger won the title of National Fingerstyle Champion at the prestigious Walnut Valley Festival.

During the early ‘90’s, John Denver’s tour manager and producer Kris O’Connor heard Huttlinger on another project and was so impressed that he recommended him for Denver’s band. Huttlinger toured, recorded and performed on television with Denver from 1994 until the singer’s death in 1997.

He has been featured on the cover of Fingerstyle Guitar twice, and has been profiled in Guitar Player, Acoustic Guitar, Vintage Guitar and Guitar World Acoustic.

Peers consider Huttlinger one of today’s finest fingerstyle guitarists. Guitar Player magazine referred to his playing as "…an amazing display of all-around fingerstyle mastery. Scary stuff.”

Who are J. Fred Knobloch, and Jelly Roll Johnson and why should they matter to you?

The men who made hits for Ray Charles, Delbert McClinton, Faith Hill, Etta James for a start. How about soulful nuances from Missisippi that will grab you and won’t let go. How about aside of the south that never quite manages to get north of the Mason Dixon line. I fell in love with this stuff as a kid and it has never let me go.

Hence, “Songs from the South” a series at the upstairs Triad monthly, featuring the best writers, singers and players I’ve had the pleasure to collaborate with, and a set with my favorite players in NYC including Paul Socolow, Eric Parker and Jim Chapdelaine. An evening of pure fun in a small intimate room that sounds great, and I don’t have to jump on a plane to Nashville to make it happen. This is a monthly series that I am more than pleased to finally have in motion. Fred and Jelly will be featured with PDB following and who knows where it will end. We just received notice that HER SONG the musical has suspended production until furthur notice. The show was to have played this Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 3pm and was scheduled through the summer. HER SONG was garnering excellent audience response and was to have opened in March. Hit Musical Revue Enters its Fifth Month

NEW YORK, NY, January 16, 2006 – Kate Baldwin, an original cast member of BUSH IS BAD: The Musical Cure for the Blue-State Blues, will re-join the production starting on Thursday, January 19, following a leave of absence to star in White Christmas at the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco. Baldwin replaces Jill Abramovitz, who covered Baldwin’s leave for two months. Also in the company are original cast member Neal Mayer, and Tom Treadwell, who is temporarily replacing Michael McCoy while McCoy performs for three weeks in Pittsburgh with the Phantom of the Opera national tour.

“I’m thrilled that we’ve been running long enough that we can actually have a cast member leave and then return,” said composer/lyricist/pianist Joshua Rosenblum. “Kate and Jill are both magnificently talented in very different ways—each with her own distinctive approach to Bush-bashing. It’s quite inspirational.”

BUSH IS BAD, the hilarious, cathartic and unabashedly partisan musical revue, is playing Off-Broadway at The Triad Theatre, 158 West 72nd Street (between Broadway and Columbus). Originally slated for only eight performances, the show extended its run twice due to popular demand, and is now continuing indefinitely, offering Thursday and Friday night performances at 9 PM, with occasional Monday night shows as well.

BUSH IS BAD, which has been described as a cross between Forbidden Broadway and The Daily Show, offers catchy tunes, wickedly funny lyrics and scathing impersonations of the president and his dissembling gang of conspirators. Joshua Rosenblum has served as conductor and/or pianist for fourteen Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including Miss Saigon, The Music Man, Falsettos, Wonderful Town, and, most recently, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Rosenblum is the composer and co-lyricist of Fermat’s Last Tango and his musical Einstein’s Dreams received its world premiere in Lisbon last fall. Some of his compositions can be heard on the CD, Impetuosities—Music of Joshua Rosenblum As a pianist, he has appeared with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, New York Chamber Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, and the American Symphony Orchestra.

He toured in Golf: the Musical, and has numerous regional credits at North Shore Music Theatre, Arena Stage, Goodspeed, Coronet Theatre (L.A.) and others.

Tom Treadwell has appeared on Broadway in the 20th anniversary production of Annie starring Nell Carter, as well as in the National Tours of Ragtime, Cats and Company. Tom was recently featured in the York Theatre Company’s Miss Liberty, where he had previously appeared in Mata Hari. Regionally, he has performed at the Goodspeed Opera House, Sacramento Music Circus, The Paper Mill Playhouse, The Studio Arena Theatre and The Westchester Broadway Theatre.

Gary Slavin (Director) has been active in the professional theatre for over 23 years. He has choreographed and/or directed for numerous stock: Starlight Indianapolis; Starlight Kansas City – world premiere, The Prince and The Pauper; as well as at numerous regional theatres, and for television (Stop the World…; Loving) and in Europe (Little Shop of Horrors tour.)

Triad Theater Comments on Closing of the Show Kabbalah

The show Kabbalah has closed prematurely & prior to the end of it's scheduled run. There has been quite a bit of National Press lately about the show on Larry King, Access Hollywood, Inside Edition, Star Magazine, Entertainment Weekly etc. since the Star of the show was Emily Stern (Howard Stern's daughter). Emily apparently felt that word was getting around the Howard Stern fan community that she was in the show & she felt from what we have heard that the director was publicizing her appearence or singling her out for publicity. All we can say here at the Triad was that no one on the entire staff knew Emily was Howard's daughter. It was kept a secret from us and we only found out about it through the news media ourselves. The show was reviewed by the NY Times on Page 2 of the weekend section on November 25th so had attracted a lot of press prior to anyone knowing Emily was in it. Emily along with all the other actors did a fine job in the show and it was a pleasure to have them at the Triad for the limited run that was the show Kabbalah.

Daddy’s fame has her bailing

Howard Stern's daughter Emily has pulled out of a satirical stage performance in which she appears nude, apparently worried that enemies of her father would distribute pictures of her on the Internet.

Emily Stern, 22, has starred since "November in "Kaballah," staged by the Jewish Theater of New York at the Triad Theater, 158 W. 72nd St. She has been playing Madonna, the pop singer who gained an interest in the mystic Jewish form of study.

Yesterday, the company abruptly canceled its scheduled performances for this week at the 136-seat theater, saying Stern had dropped out after learning that she had become the subject of rumors on several Howard Stern fan club Web sites.

"She's very scared now," said Isi Tenonbom, a spokeswoman for the Jewish Theater, who said the company was looking for a replacement actress.

Tenonbom said that members of at least one fan club had left "vulgar" comments about Emily in online chat rooms, "thus creating the possibility that throngs of them would come to take her pictures in compromising poses."

The operator of one site said he was aware that some nude photos of Emily had made their way to the Web, and that site administrators were attempting to have them removed.

Tenonbom said the company had previously agreed not to divulge Stern's relationship to the talk show host, whose morning program enters a second life Monday on satellite radio.

A Web site for "Kaballah," www.jewish theater.org, says only that the lead, Madonna, will be played by a "Long Island-born-and-raised Jewish actress, the talented Emily Stern."

Tuvia Tenonbom, the show's director, said Stern's departure puts the rest of the cast "in a very tough spot."

Isi Tenonbom said Emily Stern's mother, Alison, had seen the show but that Howard had not and that he did not want his daughter to do the show because his enemies would exploit the situation.

A spokesman for Howard Stern could not be reached for comment last night.

Taken as a whole, the impact of these women writers, who write or wrote for
the stage, film and popular recordings, is still vastly underrated. While some
toiled for others, and many performed their own creations, the range of
musical and generational styles and sensibilities is stunning and illuminating.
Among the songwriters and singer-songwriters represented are Dorothy Fields,

The Tony-nominated B.J. Crosby starred on Broadway in the Grammy-winning
"Smokey Joe's Café," as well as in "One Mo' Time," Harlem Song," "Chicago" and
"The Life." Nina Hennessy was featured on Broadway in "Cats," "Les Miserables,"
"Dream Girls," and "Annie" among others. Terri Klausner performed the starring
role in "Evita" on tour and Broadway and was featured in "A Chorus Line" and

Only when he later falls in love and has a daughter is he able to challenge his views.

Playwright/Actor Andrew Goffman takes his audience on a hilarious and self-deprecating journey into his world of video vixens, shocking pictorials, and an array of X-Rated fantasies, illuminating his struggle to define what it means to be a man, from puberty into adulthood.

Andrew Goffman has been touring the comedy circuit since 1997, performing in over 150 comedy clubs including: Caroline’s, Catch A Rising Star, The Comic Strip, Rascals and across the border in Canada’s popular Yuk Yuks. As an actor, he has appeared in such films as The First Wives Club and the independent comedy, The Stand In. On stage, Andy performed at New York’s Soho Playhouse in the Off-Broadway hit Grandma Sylvia’s Funeral.

Director Charles Messina is best known for his work on the Off-Broadway hit Cirque Jacqueline, the one-woman show about the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
